The Tourist in Albania
1 million 403 thousand 333 foreigners visited Albania in July 2022. According to the data of the Institute of Statistics, the number of foreign citizens who came to the country during the peak tourist season is 21% higher than a year ago and 226 thousand 500 or 16% more than in 2019.Â
1,363,521 have declared that the purpose of coming to Albania is tourism, thus constituting 97% of the visitors who came to the country during July. INSTAT reports that tourists from Spain increased by 3.8 times more and Italy by 48% more than a year ago, while visitors from Switzerland decreased by 4.2 times compared to January-July a year ago. The way of travel in Albania remains land routes, even though this year the number of citizens who used the airport has doubled from 176 thousand in July 2021, to 272 thousand for July of this year. Albanians have also increased their interest this year in vacationing abroad. Only during July, 556 thousand Albanians travelled abroad, compared to 476 thousand who went out in July last year.
