Marubi National Museum of Photography, is a museum located in the city of Shkodër, Albania. The museum is named after the Marubi family, who were a prominent family of photographers in Albania. The museum is dedicated to the history of photography in Albania and features a collection of over 500,000 photographs.
The Marubi National Museum of Photography was founded in 1986, but the Marubi family began collecting photographs in the late 19th century. The family’s collection includes some of the earliest photographs taken in Albania, as well as photographs from the country’s socialist period. The collection also includes photographs of prominent Albanian figures, such as Ismail Qemali, the country’s first prime minister.
The museum is housed in a building that was once a photography studio owned by the Marubi family. The building has been restored and renovated to include exhibition halls, a library, and a conservation laboratory. The museum’s exhibitions cover the history of photography in Albania, as well as the Marubi family’s own contribution to the field.
The Marubi National Museum of Photography is an important cultural institution in Albania and is a popular destination for visitors interested in photography and Albanian history.
