Good Cave in Tirana
“Good Cave” or otherwise “Saint George’s Cave”, is located in the village of Besh-Livadh in Tirana. It is located on Brrar mountain in its north-eastern part. The road from Tirana crosses Shtishtufina and continues along the Arbri road until it crosses the Tujani stairs. 2/3 of the road is paved and then continues on a rural road. The cave is positioned at a considerable height from the village of Besh-Livadh. It is listed, but still having trouble finding it. With the help of guides or residents of the area it is easier, because there are many rocks in the area which can make you confused. It is a cave with a depth of over 150 m and a variable height ranging from 2 to 10 meters. The cave has stalactites and stalagmites of different shapes and sizes. Several species of bats grow in it.
According to the legends, the cave was deeper but it was damaged and closed and has the current length. It has served and serves as a pagan place where rituals are performed. It is called “good” because the water that drips into it has healing and magical powers. At the beginning of the cave, there are several containers that are filled with water that drips from above. People go there to be cured of diseases and the “evil eye” etc., drinking from the water collected in the entity or bathing with that water. On Saint George’s Day (June 6), residents of the surrounding area go and spend a night in the cave and make a sacrifice and roast meat on the fire. In this cave, a mixture of faiths are practiced in the same place.
It is a very good place for mountain climbing lovers.
