The year 2022 seems to have been good for tourism in Albania according to the data of the national statistics institute INSTAT.
The data published today show that the number of foreign nationals who entered Albania last year reached a record 7.54 million, increasing by 32.6 percent compared to 2021. What is noticeable is that almost half of the visitors who entered Albania last year, they are from Kosovo (over 3 million). This shows once again the importance that vacationers from Kosovo have for tourism in Albania. In the same period, the number of Albanians who traveled abroad experienced a significant increase. The data show that the number of Albanian citizens leaving Albania in 2022 is 5.9 million people, increasing by 40.4 percent, compared to the previous year. During 2022, from the countries that have the highest inflows of citizens to Albania, Spain has had the largest increase with 3.6 times and England with 85.9 percent, while Switzerland has had the lowest increase with 14.3 percent, compared to the same period of 2021. Visitors from North Macedonia and Italy are ranked second and third for the number of entries after Kosovo with an increase of 19 percent and 74 percent, which in number is 631 thousand and 561 thousand entries of citizens from these countries.
